I knew it wasn’t true! Nicole Richie has issued a statement denying the smoking rumors started by the NY Post.

MSNBC writes:

Mommy-to-be Nicole Richie is stubbing out media reports that claim she was seen smoking while pregnant.

“It’s really very sad and hurtful that journalists don’t believe in checking facts before writing false and unsubstantiated stories about my health and my pregnancy,” Richie wrote in a statement released to “Access Hollywood.” “The healthy birth of my child is my number one priority.”

A report that Richie was smoking while pregnant first surfaced in Cindy Adams’ gossip column in the New York Post on Monday.

Adams’ article claimed Richie lit up on two occasions on the same day — outside DaSilvano and again outside of Nobu. No specific date was given for the incident.

It is disappointing when gossip sites blatantly make up stuff.

Nicole Richie had a very busy day yesterday! She went shopping with her friend Carlos before grabbing lunch with Lauren Conrad in Hollywood.

So the NY Post ‘caught’ Nicole Richie smoking even though she is pregnant.

Check out what they wrote:

MOMMY-to-be Nicole Richie. 3:30 p.m. Pony tail, black jeans, waistcoat. Exits DaSilvano with one young girl, one middle-age lady. On the sidewalk, after checking who’s at which outdoor tables, she lights up. They jump into a waiting black Caddy Escalade, Nicole into the front seat. Still smoking.

Three days later, 7:30 p.m., Nobu. For somebody who doesn’t eat, she sure frequents lots of restaurants. She’s there with the baby in the bun’s father. They leave. Outside she lights up again.

I really, really, really don’t want to believe this. Give me pictures, then I will!

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are the cover story for this week’s issue of ‘Star Magazine.’ The gossipy tabloid suggests that Nicole is worried about having a premature baby and that her past drug use might affect the baby.

I am sure that she does have these concerns — what mother-to-be wouldn’t? — but I think Star has glorified them to promote sales.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden spent part of their weekend looking for a condo on the Australian Gold Coast.

“People keep saying to us ‘how come you spend so much time down there?’ and I just say that it’s the best place in the world,”  said.

“I’m going to have a look around tomorrow for a place, a nice condo. It’s only one flight man. The lifestyle here is insane.”

They also enjoyed spending some time in the pit lane at Indyfest, where Good Charlotte had a performance.

“The place is awesome. We’re really enjoying checking out the track and meeting some of the drivers. We love it,” said Madden.
