A few weeks ago, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden enjoyed a family vacation to Philadelphia. They enjoyed the Philadelphia Zoo, where Nicole took this adorable photo of Harlow looking at a gorilla. On Twitter, she captioned it with:

Joel twittered this cute photo of Nicole and Harlow outside the zoo:

Joel also commented on the gorilla, twittering:

We also when to America’s first Zoo. Harlow really enjoyed the Hippos. Nicole somehow found a way convince Harlow that i am a gorilla.

Nicole and Joel enjoyed a baseball game, where Philadelphia Phillies took on the Baltimore Orioles. Yesterday, Joel shared these pictures of them enjoying it:

Joel was cheering for the Orioles, but Nicole and their friend Wes were cheering for Philly. They really enjoyed the game. Joel twittered:

We had great seats, making it all that much sweeter when the O’s came out victorious…..Sorry Wes…

Joel’s team won, defeating Philly 2-1. I’m glad they had a good time in Philly and enjoyed a week out of the paparazzi glare.

Joel Madden is one of several celebrities starring in the new “Back to School” campaign for OP, the laid-back surfer-style clothing line.

Annalynne McCord, Sophia Bush, Solange Knowles, Brody Jenner and Cody Linley all appear alongside Joel in the “OPen Campus” campaign, which features the stars getting ready for the upcoming school year, hanging out on the OP bus, cheering on their favorite team in the school’s bleachers and more. The campaign was shot at UCLA by Larry Bartholomew. The same group of stars appeared in OP’s summer campaign, which was called “Summer of Music.”

Here’s a behind the scenes video from the campaign, it shows the six stars taking part in one of the photo shoots involving a piggy back race.

Joel Madden went on quite the soul searching twitter stream last night, writing about being a father and what that means to him. It looks like he’s one of several celebrities who are putting things into perspective after the death of Michael Jackson.

The conversation started when Joel couldn’t sleep:

Why is it that i can’t sleep. And i constantly have to go in and check on harlow when i can’t sleep, but if i wake her up MOM will be Pissed

It gets really cute after this. Joel calls Harlow his little buddy.

Serioulsy sometimes i just wanna wake her up and hangout. She’s my little best friend. But just like her mom she likes to sleep more than me.

Joel then qualifies these statements by not claiming to be the best dad in the world - but he promises us he’s trying!

I’m not the best dad, but i def put more effort into being dad then i ever have at anything else. Nothing is more important than my kids.

Finally, he gives Nicole props for being a great mom.

And for the record. I’m an alright dad. Its Nicole that is the super MOM. She does all the hard stuff, and makes me look good. 100% Goodnite.

I think his is adorable and it shows how strong and loving Nicole and Joel’s little family is. I think Joel is a great dad and I’m looking forward to watching their family grow.

Nicole Richie really seems to be enjoying her second pregnancy and it shows! She’s looking great, going out lots with Joel, Harlow and her friends and kept up her awesome fashion sense.

Joel Madden agrees that the second time around is agreeing with the couple. Before DJing at Prive on June 19th, Joel talked to People.com about the second pregnancy and trumped the rumors that they know it’s a boy.

“We don’t know what the sex is,” he said. “We waited on the first one and it was such an awesome experience that we can’t wait to see what the next one is. It’s exciting to wait it out.”

Joel has also been enjoying fatherhood. He twittered the adorable photo to the right and wrote:

This pretty much sums up how being a dad makes me feel. I dont know what i did to deserve such an awesome kid.

Joel also admitted that the second time around has been a lot easier on both of them. “You’ve already been through it and it’s not as intense and dramatic,” he said. “We’re a little more relaxed. It’s actually kind of nice.”

I’m glad they’re less stressed and are taking the time to enjoy the experience!

Joel & Benji Madden headed to Denny’s to cook up their “Band of Burritos” for the Denny’s Rockstar Menu. This new dish will be available in Denny’s starting on June 23rd.

Nicole tweeted today a funny mention about Joel:

Zimbo recently out together a list of the 100 hottest couples in Hollywood, ranking them based on the couple’s collective attractiveness, success, popularity and staying power. This very scientific study ranked Nicole Richie and Joel Madden as the #62 hottest couple in Hollywood.

Why so low? Zimbo cites Nicole’s mediocre career (she’s more famous for being famous and famous for who her friends are than for anything professional she’s done) and Joel’s lackluster music career (Billboard top 200? Yes. Gold or platinum albums? No.) as signs they might not be at the top. They also comment on Nicole’s perceived thinness, Joel’s tattoos and their astrological compatibility.

So who is really hot in Hollywood? Brad and Angelina were number one; Beyonce and Jay-Z, who were number two; David and VictoriaBeckham were number three. Rounding out the top ten were Tom Brady & Gisele Bundchen (#4); Faith Hill & Tim McGraw (#5); Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith (#6); Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake (#7); Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale (#8); Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis (#9); and Heidi Klum & Seal (#10).

While the top ten is pretty solid, I have a hard time believing Nicole and Joel rank so low on their list. Pink and Carey Hart are above them, as are Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard (#53), Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo (#58), and Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton (#30).

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were two celebrities in the star-studded audience at the American Idol finale on Wednesday. AI was the hottest ticjet in town, as the finale featured performances from the Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Queen Latifah and many more.

They were there because not only are they huge American Idol fans, Nicole’s dad, Lionel, was performing.

Lionel performed his hit “All Night Long” with third-place winner Danny Gokey. You can watch that performance below!

Nicole captured most of the evening on Twitter, writing things like “On my way to see my dad perform on American Idol. Go L-train!!” and “I’m going to wait until tomorrow to comment on American Idol because every time I do, I get in trouble for spoiling it.” She also posted this cute photo of her and her dad.

Joel had a few things to say about the night as well. I’m sure he was as surprised by the outcome as the rest of America, but wrote “Honestly Adam and Kris were both great. But watching Adam preform with Queen, he really held his own. I was impressed. I really get him now.”

Below is a brief video of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden gearing up to take their daughter Harlow to a play date with a friend. It’s great Nicole and Joel are friends with other parents of young children - it means Harlow will have lots of friends and opportunities to socialize as she gets older.

I must admit, though, that the giant SUV-like jeep bothers me. Nicole is currently involved in efforts to make Los Angeles schools more environmentally friendly. Nicole also tries very hard to make sure Harlow eats organically and that their home is as green as possible. Hopefully changing their means of transportation is next.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were see shopping at Fred Segal after an afternoon of running errands yesterday afternoon. Several tabloids have picked up these photos and are claiming the couple was shopping for baby clothing - in blue!

Nicole looked cute in a loose brown tank and shorts. Being pregnant in the summer is never fun, I hope this one isn’t super hot for Nicole’s sake. Joel was very casual as well, in loose jeans and a DCMA top. The two looked like they were on a mission!

Nicole has been enjoying the warm weather and has been spending a lot of time with Harlow lately. I can’t post these photos here, but on May 11, the family was seen shopping at Naked Baby and on May 12, Nicole took Harlow to play in the park. Harlow looked adorable and she’s growing everyday!
