Joel Madden Will Make a Good Dad

Joel Madden’s old baby-sitter spoke to 24Sizzler today about his upcoming fatherhood.

“Based on the family I saw back then, I think he would be a good dad,” Rachel DePompa said. “And I hope being from Maryland, he would be a good dad too!”

DePompa baby-sate for Joel and his brother Benji when they were 10 years old.

24Sizzler writes:

DePompa also says that given the history Joel has with his dad — he left the family when Joel was young, and Joel changed his last name to his mother’s surname — she says that would inspire Joel to be a superdad.

DePompa, the New River Valley bureau chief for Roanoke, Va., TV station WDBJ, saw Joel when his band was in Roanoke this month.

If Nicole and Joel’s offspring turns out to be anything like Joel was when he was a child, the pair better be prepared for an exhausting few years! DePompa, whose sister worked with Joel at a local Aeropostale store, tells 24Sizzler.com, “I remember him in particular being a really nice kid. Really grounded and good — no problems. I remember we would play in the playground, and he would chase me around the playground. You could always tell Joel and Benji apart because Joel had a mole or freckle on his cheek. They were the cutest kids when they were little.”

And if Joel and Nicole swing through Virginia, and need a babysitter, would DePompa mind playing babysitter? “Well, I have my own career now,” she says, laughing, ”but of course I would!”

Of course Joel is going to make a good father!
