Lionel Richie Proud of Nicole

Lionel Richie has come clean about his feelings towards daughter Nicole’s partying lifestlye a few years ago. He’s amazed by her tenacity to make it through hard times-overcoming a drug addiction, extreme weight loss, an arrest and a car accident-and believes Nicole is now better than ever.

“I was worried about her. I mean, her life story reads like a train wreck, but she has amazing powers of recovery,” Lionel said in a recent interview. “She went through her drug period, then came back to centre. She went through a car accident, then came back to centre. She went through arrest, back to centre. Her ability to get through it and recover is amazing.”

Lionel is also using this time to relish being a grandpa. He admits he wasn’t around as much as ashe should have been when Nicole was growing up, but chalks it up to the nature of the business.

I think it’s great Lionel is so proud of Nicole. They’ve really come closer since the birth of Harlow a year ago and I hope Harlow enjoys having such an attentive and loving grandfather.
