Nicole Richie and Joel Madden in In Touch Weekly
Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and their family were featured in the latest issue of In Touch Weekly. The story is actually a sweet one about how the birth of Harlow encouraged both Nicole and Joel to reconnect with their estranged parents–Nicole with her mom and Joel with his dad.
Joel’s dad is a recovering alcohol who abandoned his family a long time ago. Bt Joel has used the birth of Harlow to bring his dad back into his life, and, according to the story, his father is touched by the gesture and is happy to have Nicole and Harlow in his life and part of his family.
Nicole and Joel visited Roger in May, a moment he found “very touching.” Roger also expressed regret for how he treated his children in the past, and is looking forward to a bright future with his children and grandchildren–daughter Sarah has a baby too, a daughter named Clementine.
I think it’s sweet that Joel has opened up to his dad. I know there’s a lot of anger and issues there, but it’s wonderful to see them trying to work it out–and to see his dad willing to accept responsibility for his actions.
The issue is on newsstands now.
On a different note, Nicole took Harlow for a walk in the park on June 7. You can see the photos here.

I’m not postive, so don’t shoot me. But judging on the magazine- I highly doubt Joel either found nor made up with his dad. I know they have talked since, but I doubt they made up…

I don’t believe a word of that. I once read in an interview with Benji that he had found their dad years ago and talked to him but the dad didn’t want to have any contact with his four kids. Maybe they’re not angry with him anymore but i doubt that they will have anything to do with him.

I don’t think it’s true either. There was an article one time, I forget from where, but the reporter called Roger and when Roger found out it was a reporter he hung up on him. So I find it weird that all of a sudden he’d be all wanting to talk to a tabloid.
