Nicole Richie Gives Up Cat
Pregnancy can do funny things to people. In Nicole Richie’s case, it means she can’t stand her cat.
According to Star,
Nicole Richie is giving away her beloved cat — at least until she has her baby.
The five-months-pregnant ex-Simple Life star is leaving her kitty, who survived a fall from the 10th floor balcony of Nic’s apartment last year, with dad Lionel Richie until her baby with Joel Madden is born, a source tells Star.
“She loves her cat but says she can’t stand to be around it right now,” says the source.
But it’s not for good. “She wants it back after she gives birth.”
It’s great Lionel is helping out. I wonder why Nicole is doing this — is it the smell? The fur? I’m also wondering what weird pregnancy cravings Nicole is having!

I think the reason Nicole doesn’t want to be around cats during her pregnancy is because you can get toxoplasmosis from cats, which can lead to some serious damage to both the expectant mother and the unborn baby. Many doctors advice against having cats around during the pregnancy. Good for Nicole that she is so careful =)!

it could be because changing a cat’s litter box can be dangerous to pregnant women, as cat feces sometimes carry a parasite that can cause harm to the developing baby.
so she might be trying to protect her child.

toxoplasmosis are usually found in stray cats(not all stray cats hv it tho). it is the handling of these cats’ feces that causes any harm to an expectant mother. indoors-only cats very rarely have toxoplasmosis. many expectant mothers still keep their cats-just be extra careful when handling their poo…or let the daddy handle it!
