I must say that I am sick of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden wedding rumors. They will get married when they are ready and when it’s right for them.

The latest rumor claims that Nicole and Joel are making plans to get hitched on January 11, 2009-Harlow’s first birthday.

“They want to set an example for Harlow. Nicole and Joel are doing this to seal their love legally,” a source claims. “They want the ceremony to coincide with Harlow’s first birthday and be one big joyous occasion for everybody.”

Nicole’s dad, Lionel, is said to be paying for the romantic event, and that a bidding war is taking place for the photographs.

This rumor has taken several different forms since Nicole and Joel got together. I’ll believe it when I see it. Also, while getting married on Harlow’s birthday seems like a sweet idea, wouldn’t it be a problematic gesture for future children? What will you do for them that would be just as special?

Proud grandpa Lionel Richie visited the set of Entertainment Tonight earlier this week and all he could talk about was his granddaughter Harlow Madden. He fully expects the ten-month old to be walking any minute! She’s standing up all the time, he says and getting more confidence every day.

It’s about to be official…she may be walking, like, any minute,” he says. He’s also confident he will be there to capture this special moment.

“I have to be there when she takes those first steps,” Lionel says. “I have video, I have phone, I have every possible way to film this.”

Lionel as a grandfather is so cute. It’s so clear how proud he is of Harlow and Nicole and how excited he is to be part of Harlow’s life and watch her grow.

Lionel Richie ran into a photographer in a parking lot this weekend, and the photographer asked Lionel to wish his daughter Nicole a happy birthday. Lionel pleasantly obliged.

Lionel’s interaction with the paparazzi is hilarious. I can’t tell if he genuinely enjoys or just figures being pleasant will make the entire event a little easier.

TMZ caught up with Lionel Richie last night and asked him about the trust fund he set up for granddaughter Harlow. His response makes it sound like he doesn’t trust Nicole with money too much, but I can’t be sure. It is later, after all, and having a paparazzo shove a camera in your face and interview you will always catch someone off-guard.

But then again, Nicole’s turn-around into someone who is mega-responsible has only come recently. Maybe Lionel is just being cautious. It is a lot of money, after all.

Harlow Madden is one lucky little lady! Her Grandpa Lionel and Dad Joel Madden set up trust funds for her to make sure she’s always taken care of.

According to Hollyscoop (among other sources!) Lionel set up a trust fund worth $5 million, while Joel’s “is in the seven figures.”

Hollyscoop then makes a crack about Harlow turning into Paris Hilton, but why is it a bad thing to make sure your kids will be okay if you have the money to do so?

I love the photo shoot concept, family-themed sixties glamour. Nicole looks gorgeous and I love the fact that Joel, Lionel and Harlow were involved in the photo shoot too!

Nicole Richie is this month’s Harper’s Bazaar cover girl! The article is all about how the “former wild child” has mellowed down and is starting a family of her own. The photo shoot is gorgeous, Nicole is wearing a canary yellow dress and it features her whole family–Joel, Lionel and baby Harlow!

The article is available online and it’s pretty good. They interview lots of family and friends who keep bragging about what a fantastic mother Nicole is and how much she’s grown over the past year. There’s even a bit about how Nicole and Joel met and about Joel meeting Nicole’s parents for the first time.

“I brought him over to my dad’s house,” Nicole says. “They’re both musicians, they’re both from the South, and they’re both very conservative, so they got along right away.”

The Richies–Lionel, Sofia and Nicole–were all on hand as Lionel received the ASCAP Lifetime Achievement Award last night at the pop music awards. However, the girl Lionel couldn’t stop gushing about was the one not there–granddaughter Harlow.

“He actually babysat the other day – him and Joel- and they were amazing,” Nicole said to People. “I mean, she slept the whole time.”

As great as Lionel was as granddad, it didn’t come naturally!

“It’s when the baby wakes up that I freak out!” he said.

Even though he’s taken to the role of grandfather, it’s not what they’ve been calling Lionel.

“I went to Nicole and said, ‘Grandpa,’ how does that sound? Does that fit me?’ She said, ‘Dad, that sounds old.’ So I kind of searched out … G-Pa sounds a lot better,” Lionel said.

Lionel also had praise for Nicole. “She went from, ‘Dad, I don’t care. Whatever you say.’ To ‘Wash your hands, Dad’ and ‘Be quiet Dad.’ It’s a whole new sound of the house.”

Last night, Nicole Richie attended the ASCAP’s 25th Annual Pop Music Awards at the Kodak Theatre. She looked gorgeous in a strapless grey and yellow dress!

Her dad Lionel and younger sister Sofia were there too! Check out some of the sweet pictures of them as a family below.
