Nicole Richie Talks to Canadian Media

April 22, 2009 by Erin Balser

Nicole Richie spent most of her day in Toronto talking to the Canadian media. She did a cute video interview with Canada AM anchor Beverly Thompson, which you can view here. They talked about the reason Nicole was in Toronto - to launch her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960.

Nicole also sat down with the Toronto Star where she talked about how proud she is of this jewelry collection.

“This is the first thing I’ve done that’s been all me,” she said. “Everything else I’ve done has been in television. This is my design, my creation, my vision. ”

Nicole was also very cute about what special project baby number 2 will have named after them. Nicole coyly told the reporter who asked to “wait and see”. I wonder if this means they have a name picked out already!

You can read the entire interview here.

Nicole also chatted with the Globe and Mail and said many of the same things as she did in previous interviews. I wonder if these interviews were not exclusive and instead done together as she showed them the line?

Read the Globe and Mail interview here.

Over 400 people came out to the private party, which was held on the third floor of the Holt Renfrew in downtown Toronto. Nicole signed autographs for every person who purchased a piece of her jewelry.

Despite being busy all day, Nicole managed to squeeze in some time on twitter, posting this cute pic with one of her interviewers.

Nicole’s already out of Toronto and flew into Montreal this morning.

Nicole Richie’s BlackBook Interview

March 23, 2009 by Erin Balser

BlackBook Magazine has posted their entire interview with Nicole Richie. Nicole is their April 2009 cover girl and definitely channeled Lady Gaga in the eight page editorial spread. According to the article, the style inspiration for the shoot is actually 80s transgender model Teri Toye.

In the interview, Nicole talks about her stint on The Simple Life, her relationship with Joel, her jewelry line and more. She’s still friends with Paris, she hates pink and she claims she’s never been engaged. I wonder how DJ AM feels about that one?

Nicole maintains she’s worked hard for her success, despite her wealthy family, well-connected father and famous last name.

“One has nothing to do with the other. You have to work at it,” she says. “If everything came easy to me then why am I not an Oscar winner, you know? Why don’t I have five Grammys, an Oscar and an American Music Award? I would skip everything else. I would have made it.”

The article is pretty interesting and it shows a more mature side of Nicole. She knows who she is now and is comfortable with her own skin. You can read the article for yourself here.

The issue is on newsstands now.

“I’m focusing on my brand right now,” Nicole says. “There will be a maternity line, a clothing line, shoes, belts, everything!”

She’s not worried about all the hard work that’s coming her way - she’s ready for anything.

“I feel great, I’m working a lot, I have great friends, and a great family,” Nicole explains. “All of my dreams are coming true.”

I’m excited to see all these new projects Nicole has in store. I’m especially excited for her maternity line. Her style was so cute while she was pregnant with Harlow, it will be nice to share that with other expectant mothers.

March 10, 2009 by Erin Balser

Pop Sugar met up with Nicole Richie at the Kitson launch of her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960. They chatted about the line, Nicole’s design inspiration and potential future projects.

House of Harlow 1960 is based on Nicole’s personal collection of vintage jewelry, it very much has a ’60s and ’70s vibe. Nicole worked with Pascal Mouawad on the collection and she thinks he’s a genius.

Nicole’s favorite pieces from the line are the headbands.

Even though she’s pregnant with her second child, Nicole isn’t slowing down. House of Harlow is going to expand into sunglasses and possible partnerships with Nicole’s charity and other organizations she works with.

Nicole Richie May Never Marry Joel Madden

March 9, 2009 by Erin Balser

Nicole Richie sat down for an interview with Japanese magazine Vivi this month to talk about her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960. They covered way more topics than rings and headbands and Nicole speculated about her future with Joel and gushed about what a great father he is.

When asked about whether or not Joel and she were going to get married, she shrugged it off.

“I don’t know about the future,” she said. “I make it a custom not to plan the future. I may plan to and I may not.”

Nicole was also asked to name three great qualities about Joel. This was a question she answered enthusiastically.

“Good father! Talented musician! Good personality!”

Nicole also talked about what her daily schedule is like. She gets up at 6:45am and Harlow gets up at 7am. Nicole’s fashion also changes depending on whether or not she’s with Harlow. Nicole opts for a more casual look when it’s play time with her daughter, but loves dressing up on baby-free evenings.

You can read more about what’s in Nicole’s interview over at US Magazine.

It sounds like Nicole is in a great place in this interview - she loves her life, is secure in her relationship and is comfortable in her own skin.

Nicole Richie Glamour UK April 2009 Cover Girl

March 4, 2009 by Erin Balser

Nicole Richie is the cover girl for the April 2009 issue of the UK edition of Glamour.

Nicole chatted about how wonderful the past year has been, watching Harlow grow and just enjoying being a family with her and Joel Madden.

“When you’re parents you have to make every decision together, so you become a team. I can wholeheartedly say that he’s the best dad I’ve ever seen,” Nicole said. “He’s as good as my dad Lionel. Joel and my dad are really close. Joel is superdad.”

Nicole also talked about her upcoming projects, which include expanding her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, writing a second book, and producing a television show based on the first book. It sounds like she’s got a lot on her plate.

I bet this interview took place before Nicole revealed her pregnancy, so I’m wondering if those projects are going to get pushed back as she welcomes a second child.

The issue will be on newsstands later this week!

Harlow may only be 11 months old, but she’s already a budding fashionista.

“She likes to dress up. You can see it in her face. She just loves dressing up; she loves putting on tights and bows and stuff like that,” Nicole says to the paper. “I’m not too caught up in her fashion at the moment. I just let her wear what’s comfortable for her. But she loves those tights.”

Nicole is grateful that she can provide Harlow with everything she needs, but she wishes she could take her to the park once in a while without photographers present.

The article is pretty short, but it’s a nice look at Nicole as a mom and jewelry designer today. You can read the article here.

Fab Sugar Interviews Nicole Richie

June 2, 2008 by Erin Balser

Fab Sugar, the awesome fashion and celeb site, was lucky enough to briefly chat with our girl Nicole Richie today. Nicole spoke about her recent fundraiser for the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation, her maternity line, her jewelry line and about her own personal style.

Nicole may be a fashion icon, but she doesn’t consider herself very cool.

“I feel like I wear the same thing every day,” she says in the interview. “I just accessorize differently and wear whatever I’m comfortable in. Like, when I’m with the baby I wear flats and when I’m not I wear heels. It just depends on what mood I’m in.”

Nicole is so fabulously nonchalant and honest in interviews and this one is no exception.

Nicole Richie Extra Interview

May 8, 2008 by Erin Balser

Nicole Richie has been doing a whirlwind of publicity lately. First, she appears on the cover of this month’s Harper’s Bazaar and on Thursday, she’ll give Extra an exclusive interview about her new life as a mom. I guess that’s a good way to celebrate Mother’s Day!

With Extra, she chats about Joel being a father, how her friends have responded to parenthood and more.

“I feel like my group of five to ten friends, they really love her, like she’s theirs… my friends never go outside for smoke breaks anymore, they don’t curse, they are definitely more demure. It’s actually been really interesting,” she says.

As for motherhood, Nicole has really embraced it.

“I was so excited from the minute I found out I was pregnant… and it’s been nothing but an amazing ride since,” she says. “Everything I do is for her [Harlow]. My whole life revolves around her and I absolutely love it.”

Joel has responded in a very similar fashion.

“Joel actually changes more diapers than I do… It’s his time with her. He sings to her… he laughs with her, plays with her. It’s amazing,” Nicole says.

The interview will air on Extra on Thursday!
