Nicole Richie, along with Amy Smart, were on hand yesterday afternoon to launch The Environmental Media Association Organic Gardens program. The launch was held at The Helen Bernstein High School and celebrated the partnership with Environmental Media Association (EMA) and LA Unified School District to bring organic gardens to Los Angeles’ public schools.

Celebrities will adopt gardens at various schools and work with the EMA and the LA school board to make sure the garden is successful - both in terms of what it grows and how it’s used as an educational tool for students. Several LA-based celebs have signed on to be ambassadors for this project, including Rosario Dawson and Lance Bass.

“We celebrate the dedication faculty members and students of LAUSD have to the environment,” EMA president Debbie Levin said. “It is vital that we continue to foster an ongoing message of education and social and environmental responsibility.”

I think this is a great program and perfect for Nicole to be involved in!

According to E! Online, Nicole Richie is one of several celebrities who are partnering with the Environmental Media Association and the L.A. Unified School District to make Los Angeles’ schools a greener place. They hope to bring organic gardens and greenery to urban schools

I think this is a great program and perfect for Nicole to be involved in! She’s passionate about the environment, going organic and children in Los Angeles. The program is expected to launch this summer. I hope this means we get photos of Nicole getting down and dirty, building an organic garden.

Nicole Richie updated her blog today, writing about her whirlwind trip to Canada. Her first stop was Toronto, where she did a public appearance and signing at the Holt Renfrew store downtown. The launch wa sa great success, as hundreds of people came out to see House of Harlow 1960 and to get Nicole’s autograph, which you could do if you bought a piece from the line.

Nicole’s next stop on her tour was Montreal, where she stopped by Majestic Mills to start work on her shoe and clothing line. This is a very exciting venture for Nicole and I’m so eager to see what she comes up with. The new line will feature regular clothes, maternity clothes, shoes and accessories. The line is not named yet. Any guesses as to what the line will be named? I’m sure it will somehow relate to the new baby’s name. Any guesses as to what that is going to be?

Nicole also wrote about how much she enjoyed Montreal and how much she missed her family while she was away. Maybe next time she can take the fashionist-in-training, Harlow, with her!

Nicole Richie has been having a grand time on Twitter. She’s having a great time bonding and teasing her pal Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, repeatedly asking Ashlee when Nicole is going to get a chance to hang out with Ashlee’s mom, Tina.

Nicole twitters stuff like “@andylecompte @ashsimpsonwentz @haydenslater am so jealous youre with Tina. I think I’m going to end my friendship with hayden tonight” and “One is always prettier, cooler, or more talented. Everyone has a favorite Simpson. & mine just joined Twitter. Yes, I’m talking about Tina.”

Apparently, Nicole is very fond of Ashlee’s mother. The twosome even had a girls night in the other day, and Ashlee was lucky enough to tag along. Nicole posted this sweet photo of the three of them, writing “With the best mom in the world; & can someone get this weird redhead out of our picture?”

I always knew Ashlee and Nicole were friends, but didn’t realize just hoe good friends! I think it’s great Nicole has friends she can relax with and share the joys of being a mom!

Nicole Richie has kicked boyfriend Joel Madden out - out of his office, that is! In order to make room for baby number two, the couple is converting Joel’s home office into a nursery!

Joel will have to make-do with the kitchen table for now. According to OK magazine, Nicole is redoing the office in “pink and frills.”

“She’s told him he either has to move to the garage or put his laptop in the kitchen!” the source claims.

I know the tabloid sources aren’t the most reliable, but this does seem like a logical thing for parents-to-be to have to do. My only question is pink?! Does this mean the couple is expecting another girl? Or will this new room be for the girly girl Harlow?

Joel doesn’t mind making the move, though. The source says he’s thrilled by the addition to his family.

Nicole Richie is coming to Toronto! I live in Toronto, so this is very exciting for me!

Nicole will be hosting the Canadian launch for her jewelry collection, House of Harlow 1960, at the flagship Holt Renfrew store at Bloor St. and Yonge St. on Tuesday, April 21st.

She will spend the day giving press interviews before attending a party on the Contemporary third floor that evening.

Unfortunately, the FASHION sponsored party is invitation only. Hopefully we’ll get some nice candids of Nicole enjoying the city, even though she’s only in Toronto for the day.

Nicole Richie has joined Joel Madden on Twitter. Twitter is a micro-blogging site that limits users to 140 character updates.

Nicole Richie has been dabbling in design lately. Her jewelry collection, House of Harlow 1960, has been a huge success. So today, she announced her newest design project, a shoe line!

The House of Harlow 1960 footwear line will feature 20 different pairs of shoes. It will debut in Spring 2010.

A smaller assortment of apparel, bags, sunglasses, belts and other small accessories will accompany the shoe line, WWD reports.

Nicole has inked a deal with Rick and Brian Cytrynbaum, owners of Modern Vintage shoes and Earnest Sewn jeans, among others.

“Nicole is designing everything herself,” Rick told WWD. “She’s totally devoted to this, and we’re creating a whole lifestyle around her aesthetic and what is true to her.”

I think this is a great step forward for Nicole and I’m excited to see what she comes up with!

People.com chatted with Nicole Richie at the Kitson launch of her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960. They talked about motherhood, the success of Nicole’s brand and her upcoming projects.

It sounds like Nicole is going to be very busy in the next few months! Not only is she expecting her second child, Nicole is making plans to develop a maternity line. It’s a idea that’s been on the table for ages, but we should see some progress soon!

“I’m focusing on my brand right now,” Nicole says. “There will be a maternity line, a clothing line, shoes, belts, everything!”

She’s not worried about all the hard work that’s coming her way - she’s ready for anything.

“I feel great, I’m working a lot, I have great friends, and a great family,” Nicole explains. “All of my dreams are coming true.”

I’m excited to see all these new projects Nicole has in store. I’m especially excited for her maternity line. Her style was so cute while she was pregnant with Harlow, it will be nice to share that with other expectant mothers.

Nicole Richie launched her official website earlier this week. The site will share all aspects of Nicole’s life with her fans, from her charity work to musings on motherhood to her fashion inspiration and more. There’s lots of interactive features, including a diary, videos and a photo gallery.

It’s a really busy site and it’s a bit tough to navigate, but it’s still early. I’m just excited to see Nicole open up so many aspects of her life to share with her fans.
